This Saturday and Sunday 12 & 13th July will see an influx of bikes to the Kapunda and Truro area as the Swann Insurance 24 Hour gets underway.
This year the trial will start from the Kapunda Trotting Track as it celebrates the 90th Anniversary.
There are quite a few local riders entering. If you would like a rider list go to the website. You will find lots of info there.
It will be a very tough weekend for the riders – both solo and sidecar as they ride 4 times around the course through both transport and competitive sections. The idea is to be the most reliable bikes in the event with points deducted for various things including time and mechanical problems.
The 24 hour is traditionally a gruelling event, as riders press on through the night battling the elements, especially the cold, wind and wet, let alone getting lost in fog or just plain getting it wrong.
The event is part of the South Australian Reliability Trials Championship (SART) series and has such prestige that it carries double points (the riders earn them there is no doubt).

If you want to support the event – come to Main Control at the Kapunda Trotting Track – Hancock Road Kapunda from about 9am (First rider out at 11am). Main will be open all throughout the night and Sunday with the first rider returning 11am Sunday. With the weather being so wet, please stick to main roads. We already know many will be closed due the weather. Please also do not go into private property. From Main Control you will find out where the Spectator Points are.
The event is supported by many clubs and organisations, many local to Kapunda and Eudunda so if you do get a chance, buy a drink or have a bite to eat and support a local organisation. PS. Programmes and Merchandise available at Main Control.
