Last Wednesday and Thursday new LED lights were erected on B green by a working team of Mally, Bob, Dicko, Roger, Preston, Felix, Murray and Ron, which together with A green will enhance the lighting for Night Bowls and any Pennant games required to be played at night. Goyder Electrical did the authorized connection of the lights.

The Night Bowls series is to begin on Thursday 27th October at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. The teams are available to see so please come in to the clubhouse to check what team you are playing in. The Night Bowls is a fun casual night for new and not-so-new bowlers to get on the green and enjoy the social atmosphere with supper and bar facilities available. Please wear flat-soled shoes.

The ladies all converged to the new Kapunda bowling facility for their first pennant match last Thursday. Eudunda played Freeling and went down 50-62. Joy Hams in her new skipper role went well only to go down to Janet Dunbar by 2 shots on the last end, Doreen Twartz down by 3 shots to Pat Ledsham and Judy Milde down 7 shots to Leanne Mullins.

Our Mid-Week Red side went down to Angaston White at Angaston 45-75. All our teams struggled against a superior side skippered by Brian Teakle, Liam Buckley and Bryan Tuttle.

Mid-Week White had a close encounter with Kapunda Red at Eudunda and the greens were running well considering the rain of the past two weeks. Both Dicko and Geoff Schmidt were up by 7 and 1 shot against Bernie O’Reilly and Greg Cruikshank respectively, and Steve Turner down by 11 shots by a sharp Kevin Absolom resulting in only 3 shots shy of success.

Division 1 started the season off well with a win against Angaston 114-88. Jono Voigt was up by 10 shots against Brian Bowden, Chris Jones 11 shots up against David Jaunay, Aaron Jones up by 10 against Ian Crockcroft, which included an ‘8’ on the 10th end. Kym ‘Chucka’ Schutz was down to Liam Buckley by 15 shots. Chris Jones’ team of Ian Hines, David Prior and Tait Rogers were Team of the Week – well done!

Division 2 played Nuriootpa Gold at Eudunda with a shock loss 41-102. Grant Doecke skippered well against Roger Mattschoss even though having a 12 shot deficit, Ron Hams encountered stiff opposition from Peter Buckley, and Mally Schutz’s team could not add a score after ‘smoko’ against Steve Hyland, even though none of them had run over a chinaman!

Division 3 White played Tanunda White at Eudunda and went down 50-72. Bob Leditschke was the only shining light winning by 7 shots from M. Whitelaw, Doreen Twartz was down to M. Paech by 7 shots, and GG Schutz found the opposition tough. Karl Milde and Jake Pfitzner are a welcome addition to the pennant side.

Division 3 Red journeyed to Lyndoch and went down 32-80. All three skippers Gordon ‘Kiwi’ Teau, Kelvie Schulz and Pat Obst were new in their role and took up the challenge even though they were out -classed by their opponents.

The Eudunda greens were bowling beautifully thanks to Mally and George in preparation of the greens in a very short time frame due to all the wet weather.

Names are to be put on the sheet for Men’s and Ladies Championship early as Association competitions are in early 2017.
