After the match last Thursday the ladies were treated to Christmas lunch provided by Tanunda. All enjoyed the hospitality despite the loss 51-81.

Pat Obst had a flying start but Dora Murray found form and finished three shots up. Joy Hams and Judy Milde were out-bowled by Heather Graetz and Kathy Wallace. The Wohlers voucher was won by Pam Dutschke.

Mid-week White played Tanunda White at Tanunda and were down 47-61 with our bright light being Chris Jones winning by ten shots. Preston Eva and Peter ‘Dicko’ Dickenson were unable to match David Armstrong and Tony Edwards.

Mid-week Red played Lyndoch Blue at Lyndoch and there was no Christmas cheer there either with a 49-91 deficit.

The Night bowlers participated in the annual Over 60’s/Under 60’s competing for the shield donated by Malcolm Treloar. This year the result was a draw of 39 all so GG Schutz and David Busch each received the shield jointly on behalf of the Over 60’s and Under 60’s. The Over 60’s best team winner was GG Schutz, Jeff Willoughby, Pam Dutschke and Rhonda Horne, and best Under 60’s team winner was David Busch, Neil Valderamao, Michelle Booth and Ted Bowden.

Raffle winners were Gordon Schutz and George Mitev.

Division 1 had a disappointing day against Nuriootpa on their home turf 69-118, determined to regroup in the New Year. Jono Voigt had a day of near misses and good bowling out of luck in his battle with Ashley Schultz, Chris Jones down to the competitive Wayne Williams, Greg Prior not able to match Adam Forbes, however Aaron Jones gained 2 points for his side with another gutsy win over Stuart Allen.

Division 2 had a convincing win over Freeling on our home turf 79-58. Two new Saturday pennant players were welcomed into the side, being Neil Valderamao and Ted Bowden. Bill Mader encountered the tough Lincoln Goedoecke going down nine shots, however both Mally Schutz and Ron Hams had great wins over Warren Ledsham and Kerry Bitter by 16 and 14 shots respectively. It was good to see Roy Regnier supporting the Division 2 bowlers as he recovers after being in hospital, and hope to see him on the green in the New year.

Division 3 White played Tanunda Black on the carpet and went down by the narrow margin of 66-69. Bob Leditschke had a 3-shot win against David Pech, GG Schutz was 2 shots shy of Marg Meertens, while Ted Schiller was down to M. Schmidt.

Division 3 Red had a superb win against Nuriootpa Black at Nuriootpa 102-24 with all teams up. Kelvie Schulz won by 13 shots over Janet Krause, Felix Schiller had a fantastic win 39-10 against Ian Kowald, and Gordon ‘Kiwi’ Te.Au showed no mercy against Ken Semmler with a 39-3 record win. Stella Schutz joined Kiwi’s ‘dream team’, and together with John Greenwood and Gordon Heinrich won the Team of the Week for the second week in a row.

The Christmas dinner followed the pennant matches, and even though the crowd numbers were less than usual, all enjoyed the beautiful dinner; the barbeque cooked by Bill Mader and Mally Schutz, and delicious Christmas pudding by Deadra Leditschke. The raffle prizes were the well-stocked Christmas hampers, and entertainment included carol singing led by musicians Colin Menz, Murray Sauer and Judy Milde, and jokes and poems aplenty by Ron Milde, Mally Schutz and Merv Storton.
