Iris Garden blooms for Open Weekend – 17th & 18th October 2015.
Eudunda’s Betty & Ron Gray has been very busy lately, weeding and transplanting as she wants her Tall Bearded Iris beds to be perfect for the expected influx of visitors on the “Open Weekend” of the 17th & 18th October 2015.
The fundraising effort which is run by the Eudunda Hospital Auxiliary and proceeds will go toward valuable items for the Eudunda Hospital.
Betty explained,
“My interest in Iris began about 20 years ago and in particular I love the Tall Bearded Iris. Each year the display been expanded, with some 1200 named varieties, plus more that don’t have names. It has got to the point where, if I want to plant a new iris, I have to dig one out to do so.
“One of the people who originally bought stock from me has had wins at the Clare Show in a previous year with a 1st and 2nd” Betty said proudly.
“If you enjoy gardening and would like to see some of the amazing colours in our Iris garden, come along on the Open Weekend between 10am and 4:30pm and have a cuppa and a chat.
A donation of $5 dollars for entry goes to the Eudunda Hospital Auxiliary and includes a mixed plate by the volunteer ‘country cooks’ and a bottomless cup of tea or coffee. I hope to see you here at 40 Bruce Street, Eudunda on that Saturday or Sunday. You really can’t go wrong with a drive in the country, the scenes are beautiful at the moment”.
