Lucky Canberra!
They have the University of Canberra “LuRees Archives” whose dedicated staff are running
“The Colin Thiele Festival – Canberra 2-28 June 2015”
The works of Eudunda born Colin Thiele AC, author of over 100 books, poems and other articles will be celebrated during the festival.
The “LuRees Archives” say this on their website.
“The Colin Thiele Festival is being run by the Lu Rees Archives of Australian Children’s Literature to coincide with the production of Storm Boy at the Canberra Theatre. We hope these notes will assist teachers and teacher librarians share Colin Thiele’s books with their classes and perhaps prepare the children for a visit to the exhibition or the performance at the Canberra Theatre. Of special interest for teachers is the evening Colin Thiele His Work and Legacy at the Ann Harding Conference Centre on the 2nd June.”
You can read more on Lu Rees Archives of Australian Children’s Literature web page
Eudunda’s Jenny Herriman who manages the Eudunda’s Colin Thiele website has been in contact with the organisers and they plan to be able to share some of the information they record with everyone online.
We wish them a fantastic time, and hope to let you know what those resources are online.
Of course – if you happen to be going that way! You couldn’t get a more inspiring event to go see that one linked with our own region.
Did you know that “Story Boy” played at the Wharf 1 Theatre by the Sydney Theatre Company between 24th April – 17th May 2015.
